In-Ground vs. Above-Ground Pools Basics

Now that you’ve decided that you’re getting a pool, the next thing you have to determine is what type of pool you want to have in your backyard. The decision will ultimately be decided based on your personal preference, but just the same, knowing about the different types available, namely in-ground and above-ground, should help.

In-ground Pool

The biggest benefit you can gain from a permanently installed in-ground pool is the aesthetic value it will add to your property. Backyards with swimming pools are high in demand because of this. You can say, therefore, that it’s also an investment.

It can also be a lot of fun designing your pool and the surrounding landscaping. You can customize it as much as you want, from the shape to the inner tiles. Just make sure you seek help from professional pool builders so the pool is constructed correctly.

Above-ground Pool

If you have certain resource limitations, such as time and budget, an above-ground pool could be a great option. It usually comes in a pre-made kit, and so it only takes a few days to install. Also, it’s much more budget-friendly compared to an in-ground pool. As for safety, above-ground pools feature locking gates and built-in fences, minimizing the chance of accidents.

The other difference from an in-ground pool is that an in-ground pool is not generally considered a permanent installation. It can be taken down and removed when you’re selling the property, for example, or when you’ve decided to upgrade and get an in-ground one instead.
